NEW YEAR, NEW DECOR

I just wanted to wish you and yours a very Happy 2020 and hope this year finds you nothing but health and happiness! As you know, I love to decorate; however, I feel that in the last 10 years or so, I think my style and decorations have reached their shelf life - pun intended :) So my new resolution is to make changes in each room to breathe some new life into them.

For now, I will share my New Year's decor, which is something very new for me. My mantle is the focal point of my house and once again, with only a few items I had on hand, Dollar Tree was the main event!

I already have these Lumira candles, which are out all year round - I just position them differently with each holiday. I also raise them up with wine glasses or cake stands, which gives more depth. From the Dollar Tree I found mostly all of the gold and glitz - from the boa which acts as a garland, the wreath I made from the gold, silver, and white Christmas ornaments, and the balloon weights which have added sprays on top. DT even had these cute gold polka dotted candles and (not sure if you can see it) but the 2020 stemless champagne flutes! I filled some crystal glasses I had with ornaments, and here you go! So easy and budget friendly.

But wait....there's more....

After New Years, I decided to do a winter theme. It's another new venture for me - and I love the way it turned out. I had most of these items already except for the green trees and signs which I got at Target at 50% off after Christmas.

This sled was from DT, which I repainted and added their floral picks...I made a bow and hung these adorable skates from Hobby Lobby. I have to say, I was obsessed with these little skates when I saw them in a DIY and they were sold out in about five stores that I checked - even online. But my sister in North Carolina was able to find them and shipped them to me! So happy about that! The lengths I'll go to....lol!

This snowman from my wonderful Aunt, was my inspiration to do the Winter mantle...I love him!

I hope this inspires you to create your own focal point in your home. With many of your own items, you can definitely go right into a New Year's or winter theme if that's a direction you'd like to go. I loved trying these new decorating ideas.

Stay tuned because Valentine's Day is just around the corner.....and hopefully we will have an early Spring. Maybe I can entice my groundhog that lives under my shed to give us some good news....or wait...maybe I'll do a Groundhog Day mantle....except it would be totally shadowless....as I don't want six more weeks of cold...lol.

Till next time...
